    How soon for hair loss?

I begin R-CHOP chemo for DLBCL, on Tuesday. How soon should I expect to lose my hair? Did anyone in this group shave their head ahead of the hair loss? How about a very shot cut before losing it? Thanks so much! :)

My chemo regimen is epoch which is given in the hospital 24 hours a day for a week. I think that sped up my hair falling out and it began to come out in large pieces as soon as I got out of the hospital. My beloved beautician shaved it for me and styled my wig at the same time. I’m having fun buying chemo caps in every color to match my outfits and think I will probably wear those to the grocery store Etc. I’ve made it through my second cycle and still have some eyebrows and some eyelashes but assume those are going to disappear soon enough.

I also received R-CHOP for follicular lymphoma. My oncologist told me it would happen right around 12 days after my first treatment. We'll, that twelfth day came and went and I still had my hair. I started thinking I was that person who wouldn't lose their hair on R-CHOP...I was wrong. Started losing my hair in clumps while shampooing about a week later., Each day a little more. I was joking around with my wife one evening about how easy it was coming out and grabbed a clump and pulled and made a large bare patch that made it look like I had leapord spots. After we stopped laughing, I decided to get my head shaved pretty short which wasn't a big deal since I am retired military and normally kept it kind of short anyway. Funny thing is that shaving it seemed to stop the hair loss pricess so I never really went completely bald. It normally all comes back (and bald is in style) so go out and get a few new hats and embrace the baldness!
