    I am big into sports and outdoor recreational activities. How will having only one kidney affect that part of my life?

      It is my understanding that you should be able to continue with most activities with a single kidney without limitations; however, you really need to discuss this woth your Drs. I am sure that they will want you to limit your activities for a period after your surgery and then start out slowly workling up to more advertrous things. Good Luck

      Hi, My son, who is 7 years old was born with one kidney, he was diagnosed with multicystic dysplastic kidney disorder, and he's been a normal boy, he played baseball for the recreation department, but I set my limits when it comes to sports, I will not allow him to play any contact sports period, the doctor suggested that as well.

      I was born with one kidney. Did not find out until my early 20s after abdominal surgery. I have absolutely no restrictions. Well, I wasn't into contact sports so that wasn't discussed. As Peroll said, your doc will set limits initially. Hope it's a quick process for you.

      I had a nephrectomy in 1995, and it did not effect my outdoor actives and exercise regimens.
