I stop menstruating in September when I was having radiation for rectal cancer (ovaries were getting zapped too). I am now going through chemo and I still haven't got my cycle back and suffer from hot flashes.

My GYN told me to give my body 6 months chemo/treatment free to see what will happen. Then if nothing happens, we would discuss my options. I would give it a good couple of months for your body to get back into it's own rhythm.

That's similar to what I've been told as well. You can get an estrogen blood test to see if you're headed in the right direction, but even that, I think they prefer to have a little time pass between last treatment and this blood test. I had my first blood test at almost three months after my last treatment.

I'm hoping I'll get my cycle back as well!

I don't get hot flashes... But I do get hot. It's just a slower build from perfectly fine to hot than what I hear other people talking about. This is nice, because then I'm not throwing things off my body in a desperate attempt to not feel overheated. I can just take my sweater off... And then put it back on after a while.

I really hope I'm not in permanent menopause. I want my hormones back!

I was told by my doctor that your cycle stops while you're on chemo, so I knew I wasn't going to have it for a while. I was treated for spinal, and brain tumors. I suppose I should have also added that I'm only 18. My doctor said it'll come back, but wasn't sure when...

Both my OB/GYN and oncologist have told me that I could resume my cycle up to one year after finishing chemo. My last cycle was last May and I finished chemo in October. Still haven't had it and my oncologist thinks there is a good chance that I might be done...but I am 47.
