I have questions about after care for laser treatment for vulvar cancer.

My surgery is scheduled for July 18th. I worry because my doctor said to wear boxer short but i was too embarrassed to tell him i wear a sanitary pad for incontenance. Has anyone else had to deal with this problem I haven't been able to talk with him again. I wonder about going to the bathroom and wiping up afterward. The Dr. said to use a spray bottle. What about Sitz baths do you just use your bathtub? I'm alone and can use any help from someone whose gone through this.

I wouldn't do the sits bath without checking with the doctor first. Often it is not a good idea to soak an area after surgery. Call his office and ask to speak to his nurse or PA. They are often easier to reach than the M.D. If that doesn't work, explain the situation to the receptionist that answers the phone. You need an answer before the day of surgery so you can make the appropriate preparations. Don't take no for an answer.

Tks, I forgot to mention that the dr. Had told me about taking green tea Sitz baths and then putting the used tea bags in the fridge and using them on the area. I just didn't think to ask how soon and I will before I do anything. I was just looking for some logistics help. This all came as such a shock I shut down and couldn't ask questions. I barely comprended that he was talking about me or to me. I will write down the questions and bring them with me.
