i'm having trouble sleeping while on prednisone. Any sleep aid suggestions?

Don't want to feel doped up in the morning but almost ready to try anything. Have tried those containing diphenhydramine but with no real success. Thank you.

      Firstly, tell your prescribing doctor.

I answered in you other question and would like to add the above as well as to choose your foods more carefully for their anti inflammatory qualities. Cook with turmeric. Lightly steam your veggies, leaving a little crunch rather than cooking them to death. Eat complicated salads daily. Have a handful of raw nuts or seed.

      Best wishes

Nothing works SO just don't stress about it. I'd just get up and do something. I only slept about 3 hours a night but did wind up napping or falling asleep in my Chair during the day. The steroids shrink and cool down tumors so let it be....JUST Don't lay their getting angry that you can't sleep as it won't work.....

I have been there. I know it's not fun. When my husband was working I would lay in bed until he got up at 5:20 then I would get up and start rearranging the house. I had all my grocery shopping done, home and put away before 8 am. My doctors nurse suggested melatonin and it did help. She said to take it about 30 minutes before I went to bed. It also helped to spread my dose out during the day but take more in the morning and not as much towards the evening. The bright side was my house was never more organized. I also started making crafts and I am not at all
crafty. I wish you all the best. I am finally down to 5mg a day and sleeping. The highest dose I took was 250mg. I didn't even bother to try and sleep then.

I had good luck taking 1/2 a Kirkland sleep aid(Costco). A whole one did leave me groggy the next day, 1/2 is about right. I checked with my oncologist before taking them and she approved. The ingredient is doxylamine succinate.

A few years ago I had trouble staying asleep. I had NO trouble falling asleep. But I would wake up constantly. I started taking Tylenol PM with good results, then I switched to Ibuprofen PM to keep from taking so much Tylenol. It works fine for me. I take it at night about an hour before I plan to go to bed, when I hit the pillow I'm out before the news goes off.
