If my sister doesn't have insurance, does anyone know where she can go to get help? Her Mammogram came back with mulitple lumps in both.

I was the first in the family to be diag. with breast cancer. I had both breast removed and then reconstruction. My sister is in her early 30's and has had other lumps removed that did not have cancer. This mammo showed a different kind of lump but the doctor seems to be waiting and not getting my sister the care she needs. I am not to sure what or where I can go or send her too. Any help would be great. Thank you in advance.

If you check out the resource tab, you may be able to get some info. You may also wish to take a look at the ACS website or give them a call. They may be able to help your sister find financial aid. The best of luck to you both.

      Hi Mtjewel1,
      Check out this website:
Also, if your sister's doctor is waiting and you think she isn't getting the appropriate care she needs, get a second opinion. It never hurts to have another doctor review your sister's mammo films. They may be more helpful than her current doctor.
Once she chooses a plan of action, contact the hospital to see if they have any assitance programs.
Also, I found this website specific to South Dakota:
If you look halfway down the page under resources- publications, there is a brochure on how to handle payment for cancer treatment.
Hope this helps. My thoughts are with you both.

Where does your sister live? American Cancer Society; call one of the cancer treatment centers near your sister to see what options are available.....can she get medicaid?

Here's a link to a website that has links and info on organizations that provide various types of finical aide to patients in need. https://www.pparx.org/en/prescription_assistance_programs/co-payment_programs#CC
Their primary focus in Prescription help, but the organizations cover just about everything

I dont' know anything about them, but I ran across this link today and the company line is they help women with breast cancer. www.Bustedfoundation.org it doesn't hurt to contact them. With any organization, you aren't going to call and get a check sent to you next week. You usually have to fill out lots of paperwork, then be approved, then you get some help with somethings. You may have to contact several places to get help for a few different things. But be patient and go through the hoops and you might get lots of help.

She lives in South Dakota. The ACS told me about this website and to see if I could find help on here. Thank you all for your information. I will let her know.
