    Ileostomy site spasm

I have noticed sometimes when I exercise, or bend over, that I get a cramp or spasm right at the site where my ileostomy was. I have asked my onc & surgeon, and they are not familiar with such a thing. It's not herniated. Anybody else have that issue. I am 19 months out from surgery.

Yes, I also had these spasms when I had my ileostomy. I have since had it reversed, but when I did have it I had pain around the site when I did any kind of lifting or exercise. Mine also wasn't herniated and nothing else happened.

Did your docs ever say what it was? Muscle or the colon itself? How long did the spasms continue after reversal?

LauraJo, I'm now 19 months since reversal and yes, I'm not sure their spasms but a small jab it feels like to me. I do get these. I never really gave it much thought till you mentioned it. Usually does happen if I'm bending alot, lifting, or going to the bathroom at times. Only lasts a second or 2. I just tell myself it's God's way of reminding me, watch what your doing, your bodies been through alot don't push yourself to hard.
