    Intensive Brachytherapy for Breast cancer

Has anyone in Illinois had the brachytherapy--SAVI--intensive internal 5 day radiation?

A friend did -- at Lutheran General, I think, about 5 years ago. She did it because of a work schedule with lots of travel, but does not recommend it to others. She had healing problems from the lumpectomy a side effect of the internal radiation. Seroma that took a long time to heal, with repeated visits to surgeon to aspirate fluid from the wound area.

Perhaps general results have improved since then, or perhaps her experience is uncommon.
