Barry. as usual I question the very basis of some of your statements. First, you easily throw around words like "most" or "many". Where are the exact numbers Barry? Where are your sources for those statements? As for money going to the "same old, same old", maybe the same old, same old is working. The CDC released research this week that shows that as of right now, the 5 year survival rate for ANY type of cancer is over 60%! Does that sound like what they are doing is NOT working?? Sure, we are all impatient for a cure, but things are getting better every day. One thing I agree with you is that immunotherapy seems to be the way to go, and if you don't believe that there are thousands of individuals and institutions who are currently working on that end, then you really don't have a clue. Right now, immunotherapy is a big part of that "same old, same old" that you so easily put down. We don't need new approaches, we don't need new ideas, what we need, as CAS1 says, is money thrown at the current ideas that are working. You are so caught up in your "Doctor, bad, drug company bad" mindthink, that you can't see the roses for the thorns.

and by the way, that article does not disparage all genetic testing. What is says is there are some, ok, a lot, of websites out there that are offering questionable tests. They don't say that genetic testing and targeted therapy doesn't have a place, just those websites are problematic.

      There you go again.....LOL
I NEVER said that genetic testing was bad....I said that accurate information is needed and not puffed up ones....That's what I meant.

Also....WHY do you think MORE Money isn't used for the newer therapies?
I think genetic testing is a great idea as is a lot of the direction the newer therapies are going.
I think Doctors mostly are great and do a very tough job in lousy system. I think sometimes too many ads on TV for drugs drive people to demand those drugs....that's terrible. ALSO Docs see people after they are sick and I BELIEVE most people treat their bodies shabbily. SO everything you sand I SAID is NOT what I said...what else is new....LOL
I Love ya anyway....enjoy the back and forth and only wish you the best Eliot.
