Is anyone involved in Relay for Life this year? What are you doing to raise funds for Relay for Life?

I'm planning on buzzing my head. Not excited about that, but hoping to raise extra dollars in the cause will make it worth the loss.

I am walking the Survivor lap for myself and in honor fo my friend's daughter who had no evidence of luekemia when she died, but her body just couldn't handle the stress of treatment anymore. I am part of their team but not actively raising money as I do that for Making Strides and don't like to ask people for money for too many things.
I was planning on shaving my head for St Baldrick's. I had to shave it over the summer when it was falling out due to chemo so it wouldn't really be a big deal to shave it again. Not sure yet, if I will do it or not.
For Making Strides, I had Team shirts made and sold them and gave the proceeds to ACS.

I have been involved with Relay For Life for 3 years. I got involved 3 years ago when my Mom and Dad both died from cancer within 10 months of each other, right after I was finished with my last of 3 diagnoses with cancer. I play music, so the first two years my band played a benefit concert for our local relay. That done well, we raised 3k the first year and over 3 k the second. This year I have another band playing for us, but I have organized a Bike ride/poker run, BBQ , and concert all in one day. It might get busy that day. We are selling tshirts, tickets to the event, BBQ, event pins, silent auction, and donation buckets for the event. I hope it turns out to be a success. Here is a link to our event page to get some ideas, feel free to go to our Relay page and steal all the ideas you want. http://www.facebook.com/events/445051832220511/

Holy cow Greg, I took a look at that link and a couple others once I got there. Sounds like you guys have some amazing stuff to offer and a great day planned. I couldn't imagine taking all of that on. Do you have a huge committee? And how did you get all the autographed stuff? I thought I was doing good to offer an autographed photo of Claudia Wells from Back to the Future.

I will participate in this year's relay. We have participated for the last 3 years, which is one year after completion of my treatments.. Some fund raisers we've been involved in are bucket shakes(local stores are very supportive) and Yankee candle sales. I hadn't planned to buzz my hair, but for the right price??? Our team also worked with the local Harley dealer, who sponsored a bike contest. They donated the proceeds to ACS.
