You weren't aware that Melania Trump had surgery back in May? I am surprised all of the networks didn't report on it (and in looking at Google, it looks like at least most did).

If I may ask, what is your point with this post?

The word "tumor" is mentioned in the article.

I hadnt heard that before this article.

Even if it was a tumor, doesn't mean it was malignant. And in her case, it was likely benign. My friend couldn't have the same treatment for hers and had to have it surgically removed. Thankfully hers was benign!!!

Why couldnt your friend have the same sort of treatment @cards7up?

I always thought a tumor was a tumor and that a benign growth was called a cyst. A cyst can be composed of anything including tissue matter but a tumor is only tissues.

I had some benign growths on my ovaries removed when I was in my thirties. The Dr. called them "benign tumors" I has thought that cysts were infections but that may be ulcers.
All that being said. Melania did not ask to be a celebrity. She is entitled to her privacy. Even simple procedures can have complications and require a more lengthy recovery. I certainly do not envy her life.

The words " tumor" or "growth" were not used in papers I read or broadcast national news. Everything was very hush, hush with Trump when asked. It's true that it her business - being ill - But I feel as though I could give him some support had he been honest with us.

I thought they were pretty vague when they talked about Melania's diagnosis, so I knew they were purposely avoiding whatever was wrong. If she had been more specific, she may have thought it would open the door for more questions from reporters, which she probably didn't want.

I did hear that although the media seemed to imagine the worst, that White House employees said she was actually in meetings with the planners about a big Dinner held in the White House around that time.
She was probably combining resting with meeting, but generally OK.

BoiseB, I do agree with you that Melania is entitled to spend most of her time the way she wants, which seems to be raising Barron. I'd like to know more about if he's made friends in D.C. and if he stays with Ivanka when his parents are travelling.

I'm glad they mostly kept this quiet. Whatever she was going through, the whole world doesn't need to know. And the speculation of what was wrong was amazing. Reporters would say different things every day. Was it her kidneys? A facelift, a tummy tuck..... It didn't matter one bit to me.

Wait a sec. What do you mean she is entitled to privacy? She is a public figure just like the father of her child. She accepted the life and the perks so she also ought to accept what she might consider a downside which is being a public figure. Anybody remember Ladybird Johnson? Or the wife of the candidate whose name I cant remember but he got caught in adultery while his wife was treating for breast cancer. Presidents & their families dont get much in the way of of privacy. They arent kings or queens. What they do get is Secret Service protection and free flights, housing, cars, a chef, a budget for running the White House, a salary which is dang nice and more.

They arent supposed to keep presents given by other govt representatives and, until Trumpeteer, no President ever charged the Secret Service for their protection.

She had an opportunity to be a leader in whatever was bothering her, to calm fears and to make life easier for others but, now, I believe she chose that "I dont care" Nazi jacket because she doesnt much care about anything outside of herself and her son. I dont actually blame her. She was somewhere between a slave, an escort, a XXX, a racy model and she took her best shot to get out of rough trade. A life such as she had shuts down feelings of empathy for others.

First Ladies of the United States have a public role to play. They hopefully should be a role model, a hostess for our White House and country, and the majority of them pick a cause to develop.

Naturally, the citizens of our country are interested in her and want to know all sorts of things about her, her life. and any family she might have. However, this FLOTUS is quite reticent in all her dealings with the public. Perhaps it is because of her rather "varied" background and the lack of a
proper and wise staff. Perhaps it is something else. whatever it is, she is what she is, & she is what we have.
      Sad!

Melania's right to complete privacy about her health is a law called HIPAA. For them to even say it was a procedure on her kidneys was enough to have the media speculate more than they should have, so I can understand Melania wanting to be vague. I don't think it's unusual for women to want to be private about their "innerds."

I also don't think it's unreasonable for a wife who rarely campaigned and also has a pre-teen child to expect private time in the White House. A 10 year old can't raise himself. She wasn't elected to anything, wasn't an over the top advocate for her husband to be President, and short of divorce she's been drug along for the ride. She's accompanied him when she should and declared her cause to be children's needs, including visits with needy children.

I think we should be pleased she prioritizes being a mother and grateful she isn't trying to steal the spotlight and offer us "two for one" presidents.

Geekling, you may have forgotten that Trump and his family either donate or don't receive their government salaries.

Also Presidents have always had to pay for their groceries at the White House.

Rather than a LUXURY GIFT for the President, Secret Service protection is provided because of the historical danger, horror, and instability of the country from having a U.S. President killed. I believe consensus is that another country had Kennedy and Oswald killed, so it's a serious threat.

For the same reason, transportation is provided for the President as a way to be secure and more easily controlled and protected by the SS, similar to the SS travelling ahead to foreign locations to see that areas are safe before the President arrives. It's how SS does their job---not a gift for the President.

I have not forgotten that Trumpet promised to donate his salary which is, per year, about 1/2 million dollars. His family has no right to salary. None of them have proper clearance and should not actually be involved in any capacity with the President besides calling him Daddy or Hubby.

You likely don't remember Trump's sale of armaments to the Saudis. It costs the US Taxpayer over 500 billion dollars per year to develop weapons. Trump gave the Saudi kings a bunch of killer things and for only ONE billion dollars. The Saudi royals were so pleased that they gave another billion dollars to Ivanka's freshly minted 'charity'. Shouldn't that billion have been returned to the US Treasury? Nah. The Trumps keep their gifts. So now the Saudis are bombing Yemen with bombs that say "made in the USA" and likely creating new generations of orphans who hate US.

Every other President has put up the Secret Service at no charge in their homes and as they travel.
Not Trump. His charges the Secret Service $$$ to sleep at his hotels, to eat at his hotels and resorts which he frequents and for the golly durned golf carts the Secret Service needs to follow him when he plays.

Trump is getting richer off his White House tenure. The rest of the Country, except his fossil fuel buddies, can go to heck in a handbasket.

Wells Fargo forgave Tump a 1/2 billion dollar loan when he okayed the Keystone pipeline in which the bank was heavily invested. Instead of lauding this buffoon, try looking into how he gets his $$. It was Russian bankers who bailed him out fron his Atlantic City fiasco. He sold a moldy Palm Beach mansion to a billionaire Russian oilgarch for a profit of a little over 50 million. He does business at his resort and doubled the cost of membership for the rich and shameless to hob knob with visiting dignitaries. He keeps money foreign government dignitaries pay to stay at his hotels.

Oh, but his kids are running the business. Donny Jr is gonna be indicted. His own father tweeted him under the bus so to speak.

And Jared darling was selling visas ... 12 visas for a 3 billion dollar loan relief on his condos, 12 of which would be built to suit the new lender immigrants.

That family needs more investigation and a heavy boot outta DC. This all has nothing to do with him destroying immigrant families, ordering humans to be caged, abusing children, and, all in all being a total boar. IMHO.

Geekling, where do you get your information? Don't you question information when it's not being publicized by a media who hates Trump?
Like the info on alternative treatments for cancer---I'll believe it when I see the evidence.

The Trumps are LOSING money. He's fired Cabinet members for non-ethical practices.

As LWC said, why so much vitriol when you don't know if it's true, and probably isn't? Don't you think we should give others the benefit of the doubt?
