Is losing weight without trying a sign of colon cancer?

Just thinking back on the months leading up to this if there was a sign that I missed.

Losing weight without trying could be a sign of quite a few things including many different cancers. So I would yes, your weight loss could have been caused by the colon cancer. This was actually one of the first questions my Oncologist asked me. In my case, I wasn't losing any weight.

It may have been a sign but please try not to dwell on what happened in the past...concentrate on the here and now and your future, we are here for all the support and encouragement you need...what is that old saying..." The past is history, the future is a mystery, that's why today is called the present", every day we have is a gift. God bless!

Loosing wekght is deffinatly a sign of colon cancer treatment, at least in my case. As for a sign of the csancer its self it could be but so could a lot of other things. We all nwonder what it is that we missed but dwelling on that will only drive you crazy. Hindsight is 20/20 so it may be easy to say you should have seen it comming but then there are a lot of things other than cancer that can cause all of the "signs" cancer so it would be easy to get it wrong too.

It was for my husband. He dropped 40pounds in about 3 months. He was also having lower back pain. Now that I look back and no the symtoms its kind of scary.

I didn't lose any weight before my rectal cancer was diagnosed. The diagnosis was a complete surprise. I think signs of colorectal cancer are pencil-thin stools and blood in the stool. I had those but didn't know what they meant. It is difficult to see the signs when one is expecting an o.k. diagnosis. ( No family history of this.)
