Hi; Welcome to the site, My answer is this. It depends on what how you define sick and also on where on his body he is being radiated. Radiation is potent and your husband may have side effects, I don't know much about prostate cancer radiation but in general he will most likely (after a week or two) feel weak and want to sleep a lot, at least that's what happened to me. I had cancer in my mouth so I suffered burning from the radiation but I doubt that your husband will feel any of that. Sorry I can't be of more help, but just be aware that he may feel like doing NOTHING for quite a while, so be patient with him and supportive, most men have a very hard time with just sitting around and doing nothing, (I didn't, but most do I hear). good luck. the stats are in your husband's favor.

Albertswife,
My experience with prostate cancer: I had seeds (brachytherapy) in Dec. 2011 and external beam radiation IMRT) which ended in March 2012. Through it all, my life remained almost normal with some urinary urgency, slight reduction in urinary streghth, and some minor rectal issues. They all returned to normal gradually after treatment ended with the help of Flomax. Sexual function is normal.
Did I notice some fatigue? Yes, some but not a big deal. Would I do it again? Absolutely! I hope this helps. :>)
