Not being a medical person, I'm not qualified to give a specific answer. However, I believe a search of the current literature and internet may provide some useful information. I've seen such but don't remember the details now as surgery was not an option for me. However, I'd also mention comments made by John P. Mulhall, M.D., in his book Saving Your Sex Life. Dr. Mulhall suggests that the type of surgery may not be as important as the skill of the surgeon and the number of surgeries he/she has performed. His book may also be useful for it's intended purpose as he makes very specific recommendations on actions required to minimize long-term loss of ability to perform sexually, including how soon after surgery rehabilitation should begin.
