Thank you Nancyjac, we are currently applying for those resources. Since we will still need help with our living expenses with 5 small children I was wondering if there are any type of grants available.

Do you have insurance? My insurance has a "critical illness" clause which will give you $15,000 if the adult gets sick or $10,000 if a dependent gets sick. Look into something like this. Also ask your oncologist and any cancer resources at your hospital. I wish you the best of luck.

You can always try contacting the religious organizations to see if they can help:

Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services, Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies, Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul Society, plus your local Church or synagogue often has a discretionary fund that your Minister, Rabbi or Priest is in charge of and can put to use as she/he sees fit in various situations.

Try calling thed county you live in. Here in Minnesota there is a ton of help available. Social Security has benefits for children whose father has died... Also SSI has SS disability. Mine is until I retire, but they, I believe have it for those who are temperarily disabled. Call anyone and everyone. Food shelves...
