Does your mom have a second opinion? No matter how experienced a particular doctor is, a second opinion can be crucial in cancer treatment. Oftentimes there may be no established treatment for a particular cancer, and locating a doctor with the greatest amount of experience can make a big difference. I would advise your mom to obtain even a second diagnosis as well as treatment options from the largest center near you with a specialist in her type of cancer. Traveling to a regional center should not be out of the question in order to determine her best path.

I don't have any experience with European medical system but I did found a website that shows on a map where you can find European Gynaecological Oncology Centres - http://www1.esgo.org/forum/OncogynaecologicalCentres/list.asp . The website is geared toward doctors but if you click on the links you can find information about each centre and its head who you could contact by e-mail or do an Internet search on his/her name for phone number.
