    Just updating my status

    Hi again all,
So, after a very trying 2nd opinion I will meet with my surgeon on Friday as well as an oncologist. My oncologist will have reviewed ALL my paperwork with a team of doctors at a Cancer Center here in Oklahoma. So, wish me luck and some prayers that all goes well. I hope to be in surgery next week for a lobectomy and then possibly chemo and/or radiation.Blackmama
PS. Have you all noticed that your spell checker keeps wanting to change the word "lobectomy" to "lobotomy"? ha ha!

Best wishes for a great outcome for you! That's why I turn spell checker off, it thinks it's smarter than I am. It probably is, but it's annoying.

Please read the Bonnie J. Addario material about Lung cancer so you are prepared with your questions. and take someone with you to write down details because its hard to do this and talk with the Dr's.

Blackmama, I have been reading your recent post and am sorry to learn of your newly diagnosed lung cancer. I would like to comment on some of your questions but want to make sure that I have all of the correct information. Is your cancer type non small cell lung cancer or small cell lung cancer? There is a big difference in the treatment for the two different types of cancer and I believe I am seeing on some of your post the words small cell, please correct me if I am wrong. I am a lung oncology nurse and would like to chat about some of your concerns.

Make sure you keep us posted; we are all pulling for you! Your post reminds me of when my son was about 12 and I walked in from work and he was being silly.
He said, "Would you like a glass of wine, dear?"
And I replied, "I'm not sure if I want a bottle in front of me or a frontal lobotomy".
Keep laughing, Blackmama, sending healing thoughts your way!

You should feel better once you have a plan of action. Before you see your Drs., make a list of any questions you might have, and give a copy of the list to the doc. at the beginning of the office visit. Also have someone go with you to take notes, write down the answers, and listen with you. My husband came to all my appointments and that was very helpful to me. Once you have a plan, go forward but try to relax, stay positive, stay hopeful, bring in all the good vibs, and know that so many people are sending their best wishes all the way through your journey. You are a warrior! Best of luck to you!
