Laryngitis after Thyroid Cancer and Double Hit NHL treatments

Looking for info, experiences and outcomes of laryngitis following treatment. I had R-DA-EPOCH for Double Hit NHL August through December, 2017, and surgery for recurrent thyroid cancer in April, 2018.

I have had laryngitis almost 2 months, getting worse. ENT exam didn't show any tumors or masses in neck/throat, throat not sore, lots of sinus drainage. The laryngeal nerve on my right side was damaged during initial thyroid surgery in 2003, so vocal cords on the right do not function.

Needless to say, I'm terrified that something major is going wrong with the left side, too, and that I might lose my voice permanently. I have an appt with my hematologist/oncologist next Tuesday.

My voice is really screwed up from radiation that I had 10 years ago. It is progressively getting worse. Did you have radiation for the thyroid?

Greg P_WN ~ I had radioactive iodine therapy following a total thyroidectomy in 2003. I've never had to have radiation for either the thyroid cancer or the NHL.

I had a thyroidectomy just this past Feb. No other treatment, and my voice is still very low, scratchy. I dont think it will get any better. I hope you learn good news. Let us know.
