Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: clinical research study question

Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: clinical research study question
My mom was diagonsed with Stage IV metastatic colon cancer and she is trying to decide if she should do the standard of care treatment/chemo or enroll into the clinical research study titled 'Steam (sequencing triplet with avastin and maintenance): Folfoxiri/Bevacizumab regimes (concurrent and sequential) Versus Folfox/Bevacizumab.
Have any of you enrolled in this study? We are making our list of pros and cons but still don't have a 'gut' feeling as to which way to go.
We would appreciate any feedback you could provide. Many thanks!!

Also consider checking with any of the colon cancer advocate groups as they often know what combo of drugs are working. But if you are at a well known cancer center you should be in good hands.

Hzk,
Below is list of everyone on WhatNext who is living with colon cancer who has participated in a clinical trial. I would recommend reading through some of their experiences and then maybe even reaching out to the ones that you think might be most applicable to your situation.

Wishing you and your Mom the best.

Folfox + Bevacizumab and Folfiri + Bevacizumab are common chemo protocols for Stage 4 colorectal, usually the folfox is done first; then if that stops working, the folfiri, tho some start directly with folfiri.
Folfoxiri/Bevacizumab combines both Folfox and Folfiri, and should be as least as effective as either one alone. I assume your mom has to agree to the clinical trial and will be assigned one of the groups, as opposed to selecting. As Folfox/Bevacizumab is currently a standard treatment, I don't see any risks to participating in this trial. If she doesn't participate, she'll probably get Folfox/Bevacizumab. The trial is to see if adding the irinitocan to the mix enhances the effectiveness. With the exception of the difference in side effects, I don't see any negatives about going into this study.
Your mother will be receiving no less than the standard of care for Stage IV metastatic colon cancer.
Just my 2 cents.
