Also consider checking with any of the colon cancer advocate groups as they often know what combo of drugs are working. But if you are at a well known cancer center you should be in good hands.

Folfox + Bevacizumab and Folfiri + Bevacizumab are common chemo protocols for Stage 4 colorectal, usually the folfox is done first; then if that stops working, the folfiri, tho some start directly with folfiri.

Folfoxiri/Bevacizumab combines both Folfox and Folfiri, and should be as least as effective as either one alone. I assume your mom has to agree to the clinical trial and will be assigned one of the groups, as opposed to selecting. As Folfox/Bevacizumab is currently a standard treatment, I don't see any risks to participating in this trial. If she doesn't participate, she'll probably get Folfox/Bevacizumab. The trial is to see if adding the irinitocan to the mix enhances the effectiveness. With the exception of the difference in side effects, I don't see any negatives about going into this study.

Your mother will be receiving no less than the standard of care for Stage IV metastatic colon cancer.
