Nails starting to lift with blood collecting under several nails.

Sensitive and painful. Tips that helped you in taking care of your nails once they start to lift?

I am sure that you will get many responses to your post. Until then, check out chemocare.com and on the homepage you will see the tab managing side effects. This problem is addressed here. Best of luck to you, Carm RN.

When this happened to me, I was told to keep nails as short as possible. If you go to reach for something sometimes the top of the nail catches on the item, and it will send you thru the roof because the nail is actually loose. Sometimes the pain in the affected nails kept me awake at night. Mine soon became infected, and I was told to soak them 2-3 times a day in a 50-50 mixture of peroxide and water. Just do it for about 5 min. each time, and it works wonders. I also used this on my toes as soon as they started to collect blood underneath. This worked great for me, but in the end, you just have to wait until they completely grow out. I'm about half way there, and my chemo ended 2 months ago. Good luck to you!
