Having had a mom who had melanoma that was caught very early and surgically removed, I'm thrilled to hear this news!!

This is great to hear. With Stage IV melanoma, five years ago all they could offer me (besides radiation and surgery) was the harsh immunotherapy drug, Interleukin-2. Then along came the next FDA approved immunotherapy for treating melanoma, Yervoy, also called ipilimumab. I knew it was waiting in the wings for me for about a year when, sure enough, I needed that treatment. So far (one year after treatment) it is working well for me. I'm glad to hear there's something else potentially there for me should I need it. I sometimes envy my breast cancer fellow travelers, because they have a Chinese menu of chemos from which to choose, whereas we have to wait for clinical trials and FDA approval before we have new options.
