I had head and neck 10 years ago. It was SCC of right tonsil. I had Radiation and radical neck dissection, no chemo. I have terrible side effects from the radiation that I live with now. But the key word in that last sentence was LIVE with.

What do do? If I am diagnosed tomorrow with my 4th diagnosis, of whatever type of cancer in may be, what I will do is whatever my oncologist suggests I do. More radiation, sucks, but sign me up. Chemo again? Sucks worse, but sign me up.

The one thing to remember about head and neck cancers (most) is that doing nothing has one side effect that I don't want. And I'm pretty sure you or nobody else would want.

      What has your oncologist suggested?

We need a lot more details. Why the scan? Routine follow up, or response to symptoms? We are in cold and flu season now, so it could be simply a passing virus. However, if you think that you are not receiving the response that you should, seek another doctor.

See your oncologist, get a biopsy, talk to your oncologist about this. Then proceed from that.

maybe watch it, probably treat it-see what your doctor says and why.
