    no drain

I just realized there is no drain on me? At least I don't feel one and I really don't remember the Dr. or RN saying anything to me about it. Yet I do remember the surgeon saying she would be putting one on me. As well as all the "after care" stuff they gave me when I was released to come home....am I missing something?

My drains came out in the hosp. because I was in there longer than planned. I would think you would feel them. They gave me a special top to ear at home to accomodate the drains. It is important to take care of them. Do you have a visiting nurse sceduled? Look through all your discharge papers, there has to be info. If not, call. I'm sure someone is available on week-ends. It is a good question, you need to know the answer. Good luck!

Drains are mostly external. If you had them you would definitely know it. If you had a lumpectomy, it is possible that the amount of tissue removed was small enough so as to not require a drain.

You would know if you had a drain....there would be a thin tube coming out of your body with a small bulb on the end.....

What kind of surgery did you have? I thought drains were only on masectomies.
