    Nose bleeds on sutent?

My husband is on week 3 of 4 week cycle of Sutent (first cycle) and is experiencing nose bleeds. Has anyone dealt with this side effect and if so any suggested treatments?

Sutent does have the ability to cause bleeding because it lowers the platelet count a bit. I am attaching a link from chemocare.com that addresses chemotherapies and also management of side effects. I hope this helps you, Carm RN.

I was plagued with a bloody nose for the entire time I had chemo (5 months) and found that a dab of vitamin E oil helped ease the pain. I would check with his doc, though. The good news is that after I finished my chemo course, the bloody nose side effect was the first one to disappear! YEAH!

I had a very dry nose and some oozing while on Sutent. I started using a dab of Hydrophor or A&D ointment to help keep my nose from drying out, as this is what the Oncology Nurse Practitioner recommended. I continue doing this even though I've switched to other chemo regimens. Speak with your husband's oncology team, and find out what they would recommend.

I didn't take Sutent but during my chemo treatments, my nose bled when I blew it because of sores in my nose. I used nose gel (OTC) inside my nose & saline sprays to keep it moist. Also, my primary doctor prescribed antibotics since I had a sinus infection. The gel & antibotics worked, after a week it stopped.
