If your throat is sore but not due to a cold then it could be a sinus infection, especially if you are nauseous. The infection runs down the back of your throat which causes the sore throat and drains into the stomach. You might try Benedryl for tonight to block the histamine production and then switch to a longer acting H1 blocker like Claritin tomorrow. I would take a bolus dose tonight of Benedryl, like a 50mg dose.. Carm RN.

It helped me to gargle several times a day with half tsp. salt plus half tsp. baking soda in a cup of warm water. Also, tried to drink 2-3 qts. of ice water each day. I think it helped to prevent dehydration and felt good going down the throat. I usually felt the worst on the 3rd day after the steroids wore off and got gradually back to normal by the 6th or 7th day. Hugs and I hope you feel better soon!
