    Not traditional medicine

I do not mean to offend but a friend is encouraging me to look into Rick Simpson oil. I have researched but not sure. I am super sensitive to everything I ingest since chemo. Does anyone know of someone that tried this? The testimonials online are pretty impressive. Please do not judge. Just asking.

You live in Oregon ... isn't marijuana legal there? If it is, go for it! There is evidence that it helps cancer in general and definitely can help with nausea and increasing appetite.

(I live in Texas. My husband saw a show on TV talking about all of the benefits of marijuana for cancer patients. He asked my oncologist about it. I had been complaining about my weight - which just keeps getting higher and higher. My oncologist replied, "Well, if you think you are having weight problems now, imagine what they'd be if you added marijuana to the mix!")

He wasn't in favor of it ... but again, I live in the conservative South. Studies (at least some) are positive. Try it if you can!!! If the drug I get (Opdivo or nivolumab) quits working, I am not at all opposed to trying marijuana, even if it means I have to move to another state where I can get it legally.

I think the stuff is great!! Im not in a legal state but I did try the stuff and, for me, it was remarkably relaxing. My attitude immediately improved and troubles got snaller as just things to attend

Im in a fb group called Cannabis Oil Success Stories.

Seems to me that trying it cant hurt.

BTW, Livewith, what an odd thing for your oncologist to say . I'd suppose he has personal experience with weed as well as having hand to mouth disease his own self

Ah, well ... gruesome gobs of goblin lips.

I lived with someone with ovarian cancer for seven years who smoked it with great success in minimizing nausea and improving her appetite. For me it would be about the oil. With lung, I can't smoke it. Actually there are numerous testimonials about the positive effects including cure for lung cancer. Specifcly, it takes about 60 grams. That is a ton since the recommended dosage is half the size of a grain of rice. I think I may try it. I am in Oregon and I am going to consult with an MD who specializes in medical marijuana. I'll keep you posted. The relief of anxiety alone may be worth it.

Live with cancer--cross the state line and come to New Mexico. You take your paper work in, get a state issued card, and you go to a marijuana store and buy the ingredients in pills, in liquid, or the traditional bud. You can get diferent strengths, flavors that come from different types of MJ- like there are different types of apples. It's no big deal here, but the smell makes me sick to my stomach.

I've had more than one student, and more than one grandson make heavenly hash brownies. It's easy to tell, because the buds get stuck in my front teeth. It just doesn't do anything to me or for me. The students watched me. Finally they said, "Miss we put some strong XXX in those brownies and it doesn't do anything to you." I told them it did, I had their stupid bud stuck between my teeth, and I didn't like food stuck in my teeth." My husband was the same way. He ate it in Vietnamese foods, salads and sandwiches. It never affected him one way or another. Now my grandsons-it mellows them, Levi has shattered disk. He was T-boned, and that disk took all of the force and trauma.

@meyati, that's why my son lives in Elephant Butte!!! He doesn't have cancer; he has horrible PTSD. Marijuana works far better than all of the drugs he was on to control his moods and emotions. I won't do anything to jeopardize the treatment I am currently getting, but if it quits working ... Katy, bar the doors!!!

@geekling, my oncologist has a great sense of humor. I love him to death. He is a perfect fit for me.

@Rehas5, I would try it absolutely. I probably wouldn't buy Rick Simpson Oil ... I'd just go to the dispensary and get some oils there. Also, I think (I could be wrong) that you can smoke it with a vaporizer even with lung issues??? I'm not sure, so don't trust me on that! Your MD who specializes in MM will be able to answer all of your questions ... then you can come share with us!!

I'm in NJ and we have "Med Mari". However, I can only buy the buds. So I buy it, make butter out of it and use the butter for cookies. I have a cook book!! No buds in your teeth that way. Also, I don't like the taste either. Guess what kills the marijuana taste? CHOCOLATE!! I make honey oatmeal cookies and add 2 tablespoons of Godiva Dark Hot Chocolate Mix to each batch of dough for a dozen.

I also have a vape which cooks the pot instead of burning it so it's easier on the lungs. So I use the vape and eat a cookie before I go to bed. The cookies kick in about 2 hours after you eat them which is perfect for me because it keeps me asleep rather than me waking up at 3 AM.

It has helped me with nausea, anxiety, mild to moderate pain and insomnia. I waited until my docs gave me the OK to use the Med Mari, it's expensive and I do not share or travel with it for legal reasons. Though I have a license, I do not trust the NJ government.

@ Rehas5, if you would but look at it another way you would see that 60 grams is something like 4 tablespoons which IS doable, yes? Or a teensy bit over 1/4 cup.The folks on the FB group are speaking of using the goo as suppositories. I've spoken with folks who are juicing the plant. Everybody is trying to stay alive as best they can.

I would not be in favor of this..given you have L.C. I would not be in favor of anything smoked. There is not enough evidence to support the pros or cons of using this. Simple ginger has helped many with stomach issues..pain can be controlled with other medicines but you need to find the ones that work for you..have you met with an actual pain care specialist..not a nurse but a Dr.
This is unreliable as far as strength and content as well. No not in favor.

Cas, people have already said that toking, while having lung problems is a bad idea.Toking is not good for people with nose problems either. We are talking about pills, oils, juicing by Geekling. It's also been mentioned that bud and the leaves make good garnishes for salads and soup in Viet Nam, and people here put the buds in brownies, cookies, that helps the munchies and and keeps you mellow-Pure Genius----

If you are having symptoms such as pain or nausea or weight loss, work openly with your oncologist to explore all your options. You deserve to feel your best. Don't be embarrassed to ak any question. Your doc has heard it before, I bet! But please don't take substances or supplements in any form without getting it cleared by your doc first. Our bodies are so complex.

Some doctors have such closed minds. I inform them. Before radiation started the labs showed that I was developing penicious anemia with abnormal shaped red blood cells.. My oncology radiologist said-- What ever- when you get an oncologist at the clinic, you can talk about that then. Being consiensous, he ordered new labs on the 5th week of treatment. My anemia went away, and the niacin, B 12, and Folic Acid from Walmart straightened out the size and shape of my red blood cells. He said- Amazing, I've never seen this happen before. Wait til you get an oncologist and they see this.

I finally was released from the none care of the evil oncologist, and got a sane oncologist. He asked me about the cure for pernacious anemia. He said that millions are spent on research and treatment, and I cured myself pennies a day with a Walmart purchase. Doctors reluctently say- USE VITAMIN B COMPLEX. I tell them that I had 2 vitamin B deficiencies on a B complex. Both times, I was told to use the specific vitamin. Last time a neurologist told me to go back to B6 B12, and add niacin and Folic acid from Walmart. Doctors are trained to believe that vitamin pills don't work. That's one reason that I'm fighting the FDA about suppliments. The FDA would rather that I go in every few days or something and take an expensive med. It doesn't make sense.

Listen to Barry, About 20 minutes after the school parking lot emptied out, the ventilation system was filled with 'Smoke'. Even the union rep toked. I think it was to keep us from committting suicide or mass murder. The coaches smoked blunts to look more manly than the other male teachers. The state appointed head of education, suggested that I start toking with them. I assured her that I didn't talk about this to anybody, certainly not to the kids or parents.

People with cancer have the right to smoke- and only they really know how much pain and anxiety they have.

I believe that The Feds and Most of the States that won't allow people to smoke pot for fun or cancer are Barbaric and should take a long walk on a short pier. BTW the war on Drugs is just as lousy as the war on cancer as neither is working very well and BOTH make fortunes for people. Why I can't use a Plant that was put here by God is unreal to me. ALSO we have a receptor in our brains that accept this molecule so HOW and WHY is it there....A Pox on all their lives.....

Just to clarify, I had to get a prescription from my oncologist to get the pot and I followed his directions to wait until 3 months after my SCT to use it. Making edibles is a safer way to go, in my opinion but I would urge anyone who wants to try anything to go through their treating physician.

I have been taking Hemp oil in capsules at night - produced as per Rick Simpson's video and recommendations, produced by a dear lady who produces it for her husband and now me - for absolutely no charge. My appetite and thereby my energy both improved immediately. It really does need to be produced according to specific instructions and it's not just a matter of smoking pot, or any grade will do. It's not true. Be sure you get what it most appropriate for your situation and ask loads of questions. It works - if you use the right strength. Good luck.

Did anyone see the documentary series The Truth About Cancer A Global Quest by Ty Bollinger? Very very informative and eye opening!! It was a nine part series and covered so much information on curing cancer the alternative way! I can't even begin to tell you about all of the patients who decided against surgery, chemo and radiation. Some were given death sentences upon diagnosis and chose to change their diets completely, use natural supplements and balance their immune systems. One of the sessions talked about cannabis oil, not to be confused with hemp oil. They are two very different things! Cannabis when made into oil using only very high quality buds has been proven to cure cancer. It must be made very specifically and carefully. The cannabinoids are the part of the plant which is healing. I have decided to make an appt with a naturopathic Dr to talk about nutritional changes in my diet and herbal supplements. I will continue with my oral chemo for now, but I'm going to take the supplements also. I had asked my oncologist about plant based therapies before and she said I couldn't take them as they MIGHT interfere with the chemo! How can natural supplements interfere with poison? I've been thinking about doing this for a long time. I'm taking a leap of faith and going for it. I live in Illinois so the cannabis issue is going to be tricky. Blessings!

Nana.....sometimes our common sense incorrect. There are a few on this site that don't believe any of that is true.....I loved the series and want to hear all the info I can get. I'm a vegan since D Day but after a year and a half I added Salmon once a week.....that's it and DO look forward to it. Good Luck, listen to your Docs, get all the info, use your God Given Common Sense and do the best you can. The body is designed to be self healing.....Sometimes it needs some extra help.

That is exactly right Barry. Our bodies were designed to heal with the plants that are on this earth. Cancer is inflammation in the body that has gone haywire. If we can get our immune systems in check and strong and balanced, then it can fight the cancer cells. I had 18 lymph nodes removed during surgery and ALL were clean! My cancer markers have never been higher than 3.2. I can't change it now but oh how I wish I would have sought a second opinion before having such a major radical surgery.

In my state of Delaware, a "Compassion Center" was opened in July. (A law was passed 4 years ago to allow medical MJ but it did take 4 years to build a place and finally get it open for business.) During my chemo infusions and feeling so sick I thought I was dying, I did look into it. I downloaded the 6 page form to fill out and get a doctor to sign, and you pay a fee to get the i.d. card as a license to possess etc. However, none of my doctors here in DE will sign. They only believe in the Pharmaceuticals and proven FDA drugs that earn money to fill their pockets, I suppose. Heaven forbid we cancer patients would stop going there and they'd lose the copious $$$ they're receiving from us and our insurance companies. What if a God-given plant on this earth is all we needed to help us instead of the manufactured, extremely expensive cancer drugs? I've heard there are at least 20 states that allow medical MJ now. It's still not legal on a Federal level though. I could go on and on, but the bottom line...go for it!!!! Good luck and hugs to you!

As my GP said - we aren't chemical beings and our systems are not made to process them. Anything we can do to stay about from the chemicals pushed on us by western medicine and the pharm. companies behind them is in our favor. Natural truly is the only answer. We are fighting enough chemicals via cell phones, microwaves, all the crap zapping through our bodies everywhere we go, without adding any via our food (organic is the only way). Why would we ever subject ourselves to more garbage our bodies can't process??????
