    Nulasta response time

First time on Nulasta, cycle 1, how quickly should we see positive results from Nulasta?

Thanks, Greg. I didn't know this. I just remember having to get dressed the next day and get a ride to the oncology place to get a shot the day after chemo. I didn't really know how it worked. It just was something that had to be done. Thanks.

Hello, I am an oncology nurse and that is a great question. When you get chemotherapy, you go through a NADIR period where from day 1 through 7 your counts drop to the lowest and then it takes 14 days to build back up. That's why most chemo cycles are every 21 days. When you get a drug like neulasta, it speeds up the production of white blood cells to that you bounce back faster and stronger. The timeframe depends on the type of chemo and how long you have been getting chemotherapy. Some patients have had up to 15 lines of therapy, so the more you have gotten, the slower it is to rebound from it. I hope this helps you.

By my next chemo two weeks later, my counts always rebounded to high normal. I was on strong chemo for Stage IV rectal cancer.
