October is Liver Cancer Awareness Month - Did anyone know

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month everything else gets swept under the rugs. Those of us with liver cancer do not want to take anything away from BC, but we would appreciate just a little shout out every now and then.

We understand your frustration. There has been some dialing back of the Pinkwashing over the last few years. The NFL for example has changed their program from breast cancer only to calling it "A Crucial Catch" and tries to highlight all cancers and lets each player determine what type of cancer they will choose to highlight during Oct. On the other hand, as the old marketing saying says, "no publicity is bad publicity". Even though some are still hammering on the breast cancer bandwagon it still shines a light on cancer as a whole, and that helps us all.

So valid. So many cancers out there making people sick or taking their lives. As a breast cancer patient I appreciate the “awareness” but other cancers need the same. I’m not sure how this happened, but I wonder if the fact there are self exams and mammogram screenings that help people find irregularities is driving some of this....reminding women to do these. I agree with Greg, any cancer publicity is better than none.

Thank you for bringing it to our attention. I suspect most do NOT know.
