Only Steroid seem to help control nausea

Wife (69), Pancreatic cancer locally advanced, very bad feeling nausea/sickness/giddy, even though on Chemo break, tried loads of prescribed tablets, not helped
Now on a course of Steroids, that are helping quite a bit, takes 2 per day,( last 2 today )but how often can she go on/stay on steroids..

    Thank you for any answers

I had the same concern when I was in chemo. My oncologist assured me that the dosing and the cyclic nature of taking the steroids for a few days and then not again for 3 weeks would not have any permanent side effects. They did make me a bit jumpy and hungry as a horse, but as soon as I finished taking them, those side effects would stop. And they sure did work well for nausea. I never had to take anything else, and I was never nauseous.

      AJH,
A lot depends on which steroid she is taking and the dose. Decadron is normally better for long term use over Prednisone. Good luck to you and your spouse, Carm RN.

I was nauseated and vomited every day during my treatments...24/7 chemo and 5 days a week of radiation during the same 5 weeks. I tried everything from Kytril, Compazine, Atavan, and finally Marinol which is the closest thing to marijuana and still be legal. They never suggested or prescribed steroids.

There have been studies of marijuana use and tumor suppression in pancreatic cases. One study out of Univ of Minn. was significant. Trick is how one can get decent marijuana. If youmknow, please let me know. I'm at stage 4 Pancreatic Adenocarcenoma. I am willing to give a fresh good quality marijuana a try, but how do I get it and in good quality.?
