    PAIN

I am having extreme pain in lower back, butt (literally), and leg. Just found out cancer is metastasized to my sacrum. I don't know what to do with pain while waiting for radiation. I'm taking lots of pain med, using cbd ointment on original site of pain. Its all great and keeps it lowered but I'm still hurting alot. And the worst pain is to sit...Any suggestions?

First, I am very sorry to hear about the mets. That s.u.c.k.s.

The only thing I can think of is to see if you can speak with a palliative oncologist. Palliative care starts from the day of diagnosis (no matter what stage) and all oncologists are trained in palliative care to some extent, but the specialists know better how to deal with pain. This page includes a link to providers:

      Wishing you all the best.

I'm not sure about where your pain is originating, but if it has anything to do with the nerves in your lower back you could be having some sciatic nerve pain. I have that periodically and hanging in an inversion table has eased that. This is just a guess at your situation but we wish you some relief.

A body pillow? They are long pillows that you use for padding by your side or to help a person lie on their stomach. They used to be called Dutch Wives, and were used by the Dutch in Indonesia to soak up sweat at night. 1603 the Dutch found and colonized Indonesia. My Body Pillow helps me lie on my side- swing a leg over it to keep my hips from hurting and support my body- taking the weight off of my back and hips. And you can punch and kick it-it won't complain at all.

Razmataz. I'm so sorry this happened to you. i pulled my sacroiliac in June and it really burned. I've had worse.

I did a search to see what a sacrum is. I'm appalled how a doctor could tell you to wait for even a minute. You can't sit or do anything.

Does it help to lie on your stomach? Can you lie on your stomach? I really can't lie on my stomach any more, but a body pillow helps me.

I got mine at Costco for about $25- all soft and covered with plush. Amazon has some the Naomi is like what I got. Amazon is $60. the others look horrible to me.

Ebay has some really comfy looking ones---maternity back support pillows for $30 up free shipping. It can't hurt to look. Don't look at bedBath and beyond over priced torture objects.
      Can you get acupuncture?

Oncs and Rad Docs know nothing about pain meds and don't usually even want to deal with it. I know that a high dose fentanyl patch can help bone pain....Good luck as Pain is the worst thing on this planet.....Just AWFUL and I don't know why a loving so called God would allow so much despair and pain?

Be careful with the Fentanyl, if you can get it. My son watched news, and made remarks about it. I have Fentanyl patches- I used half of the prescribed patch. Haven't needed it for awhile. My doctor and the FDA was that far off on the dosage

Staying on your side with one leg over the body pillow and one underneath and the pillow really close to your body is the way to go. The pillows are great but make sure there is an opening at the back....Get two of them....

Barry- there are several different shapes---For myself-I like an old-fashioned Dutch Wife-Thanks for the advice on the ones shaped like old one-piece clothespins.

-Looking at the pics on eBay Body Pillows, I might try another shape--style-- Razmataz might try several shapes to find the best one. They also have different style pillows for tail bone, problems and others for muscle damage. I do hope that they help Razmataz get some relief.
