PD-1 and PDL-1 are driven by what mutations your cancer has. They each work a little differently.
You are at one of the best cancer hospitals in the world. I know it well.
They know what they are doing. And melanoma responds very well to PD 1. There are some people 9 and 10 years out with no disease and were all stage IV with lots of cancer burden.

Targeted therapies, PD1 & PDL, have been offered on their own for awhile. PD1 is just starting to be offered in combination, in this case with Yervoy which is an immunotherapy. Are you seeing Dr Hodi at Dana Farber? Do they have a plan for treating the side effects? I received these drugs independently with Zelboraf for targeted braf treatment in between. Got colitis with Ipi (Yervoy) and hospitalized for 1 day. Got Uveitus and subcutaneous infiltrates with braf, so cut dose in half. Blew thyroid and got shingles with PD1. Have had 7 brain surgeries via SRS in between. That said I've survived 8+ years. I hope this info helps you. Best of luck. You can read more about my treatment journey at skinofsteel.org .
