Pleurodesis (surgical procedure to remove fluids from lungs)

Has anyone undergone a pleurodesis procedure to surgically remove fluid buildup from the lungs; not a thoracentesis? If so, what experiences can you share - good or bad? My husband (Stage IV CRC with mets to the lungs) recently saw a thoracic surgeon, who recommends he go this route, instead of continuing to have a thoracentesis procedure, as needed. Appreciate your honest feedback.
