Power port causes fever and blood clots leading to dvt

Power port causes fever and blood clots leading to dvt
three weeks after final chemo a/o, I had a fever and serious neck pain. Went to ER. Admitted. Determined my power port was causing blood clots in neck and down arm leading to dvt. Port was removed. Have had to inject lovenox in my stomach since the surgery which was 2 months ago. Has anyone had this experience or know why the port would cause this problem? Thank you for your help.

Hugs and healing vibes. I have not had any problems with my power port. I just did a quick google search, but could not find anything useful about this issue. Speak with your oncology team and ask them if they have any ideas why this happened. Perhaps it wasn't inserted correctly. I do know that people have had issues with this device, neck pain for several weeks, the port moving, or getting clogged. But this is the first time I've heard about blood clots and fever.
I would also report this to the FDA
