Prayers and good thoughts requested please

Prayers and good thoughts requested please
Tomorrow I'm having a PET scan done. Although my CAT scans for the year post chemo have been clear, my CEA seems to be a problem. For months, everything was good, under 5. Then suddenly it jumped to 17, 4 wks later 11, 4 more weeks 13. At this point, my oncologist wants a PET scan as he is confused about these results. Of course I am nervous, don't know what to expect. Please send a little prayer up there for me, I will be so appreciative !

Prayers sent but I've heard many stories HERE that they can fluctuate all the time and means nothing. Plus your numbers aren't that high. Don't forgot we have cancerous cells ALL THE TIME and most of the time our immune system can handle it. SO IF the average guy on the street had a Pet Scan and a CEA level the entire Population might be taking chemo.....Good for Big Pharma but BAD for People....lol Good Luck.....You'll be fine.

Please know that cancer marker tests don't work for everybody. This is just something that's less invasive, expensive, time-consuming, painful that tells them if anything is going on in the body. My doctor told me he wanted my number under 10, so when it was 11.3, I panic'd. Well, when I saw him, he said he just wanted it in the ballpark of 10, so 11 was fine. The last few tests have been 9, so I guess there are so many things going on in the body that could affect these tests. Good luck on your scan.

You guys are wonderful ! This afternoon I'll be going into that PET scan with your prayers and good Karma, which is a nice boost. Both of my daughters are going with me as well, although I told them not to come - long boring time for them, but they are super women ! (On the other hand, my husband is still at work and I haven't heard from my son - MEN ! LOL ........ :) Thank you

Thanks again for everyone's prayers. Unfortunately it seems that I just can't behave myself, The PET scan showed a small mass in the lower abdomen, so off to the surgeon I go on Friday. Yippee ????

Awww shoot. Are you having a consultation with the surgeon or are they going to biopsy on Friday?

The oncologist sees no reason to biopsy it because he feels even if we got a benign result at this time, considering where it is, it would be a time bomb. Can't say I'm thrilled about 2 surgieries in about a year and a half, but there doesn't seem to be any other choice.

I had two major open laparomties 3 weeks from one another so I understand. Amazing what we can survive. Get up as much as can and hydrate. Continued prayers.

Confusing your doctor is an excellent thing to do.
Let's hope the "mass" is nothing but fibroids.
