    pulling teeth

So all of my friends teeth are going to be pulled tomorros in preparation for chemo/radiation. What foods and meds should we have on hand I.e. oragel etc. Also the reality of how serious this is is starting to sink in. Any ideas for positive thoughts I can share with him? Thank you

Having them pulled in advance of treatment is a smart thing, and getting to be a common thing to do. Mine were not pulled before radiation 4.5 years ago, then they immediatly started to decline. When they got to the point that they needed pulled, I was in danger of getting osteoradionecrosis, a bad bone decay disease. Pulling them now eliminates that. I am having the last 8 of mine pulled Thursday, luckily I have been able to heal after the extractions. Some do not after radiation.
As for what to eat, soups, jello, pudding, etc. That's what I eat after a bunch are pulled. We wish him the best.

And don't forget some of the "usual" when any teeth are pulled -- like don't use straws, as that could cause problems w/the healing wounds. I hope all goes well for him.
