Question on breast cancer

Question on breast cancer
I have a friend that has just been diagnosed (this week) with Stage 3 Inflamed Breast Cancer. She says that's what they call it. Is there such a diagnosis? When told my husband had Small Cell...I asked what type. (Like I would know about it). I thought everything had a long name. Had to reassure me that was the name. I didn't want to press the issue,at such an early date, so thought I would ask here. Is that what they call this type?

Thank you, FreeBird. I had googled and only came up with inflammation of the breast. That web site you mentioned gave me all the information I needed. Now, I'm froze with dread. So aggressive. She is at MD Anderson in Houston. Best place for her. Thank you so very much.

Yes. If you have cancer and are in Texas, MD Anderson looks like a good place to be. That fact sheet for that cancer says the five-year survival rate is around 34 percent (from the 1990's). I have no idea what her condition is, but with numbers like that, it seems there's still room there for hope, especially with top of the line care. So we'll be hoping for the best for your friend, you, and your husband too.

It is called Inflammatory Breast Cancer or IBC. I was diagnosed with it in November 2011. Had chemo, surgery, radiation and am now in remission with no evidence of disease.

God love you, nancyjac. I appreciate both your answers. Thank you, FreeBird for the positive of MD Anderson. You know at this stage any positive feed back is appreciated. It is good and bad surfing on this internet. Smile. Thank you.
