Can anyone tell me , after you have finished all the radiation treatments ,do they put you on Tamoxifen right away? Do you have an MRI to check? Just wondering what happens.

Generally, yes, Tamoxifen starts upon completion of radiation. There would be no purpose to an MRI. The purpose of Tamoxifen is to block estrogen from cell receptors to reduce the risk of of estrogen helping the growth of cancer cells, now or in the future.. It has nothing to do with whether or not you currently still have cancer or have no evidence of disease.

Seeing Oncologist Monday will post after appointment. I was told start after radiation (will have 9 treatments left on Monday) I would think follow up test would be different depending on case! I was early stage. You could always call your Oncology nurse for your specific treatment.
