I had radiation to the neck/throat/jaw bone area in 2009 with the same problems you are describing. They wanted to put in a feeding tube prior to all of my surgery and treatments but I refused that saying that the last time I had a tube in my throat I gagged on it constantly. The surgeon was going to put one in my belly like you say is a possibility too. Luckily I had problems eating and swallowing, but not so bad that I couldn't tough it out and get through it. I was starting to think that my decision wasn't a good one though.

Thanks Greg, I have to have RAD & Chemo together or it doesnt work. I too questioned my decision. But got off that track quickly. There has to be a way to help the severe pain. I think Rad didnt take me seriously when I said i could not swallow to eat. When he saw the weight loss in 3 days he sent me to ER. Hydrated, endoscopy, last Tues, just now starting to get Boost, broth down. Better days ahead!! Thinking positive!
