I found radiation to be the easiest part of my treatment. During the last week or so my skin did get a little tight and burned but I've had sunburns that were worse. You will probably spend a lot more time just getting to and from your appointments than the actually treatments will take. No preparation required other than showing up.

For me there were no immediate side affects. Although near the end I found that my bladder had also been affected. Which may be the same case with you. Although they do try the hardest to stay away from other organs...
Urinating has been a truly excruciating experience. Both through the urethra and pain in the bladder itself. The medicine they gave me to ease the pain and spasms is called pyridium that works great but as it turns out, it also temporarily damaged my kidneys. Which led to a week stay at the luxurious Mayo Clinic Hospital here in Phoenix.
I pray that everything goes easy for your and you have minimal side effects.
