It's been one week since my rectal tumor was removed. I have been through a course of neo-adjuvant chemo radiation that greatly shrunk the tumor. I was extremely lucky to have an extremely talented surgeon here in Arizona at the Mayo Clinic who was able to do the whole thing laparoscopically. I was up walkin around the evening of the surgery. I found out she is the only one in the state to perform this operation.
I have a 2 inch scar in my tummy and a couple really small scars.
I do have a temporary ileostomy which has been a little difficult but with a different pouching system it should be fine.
I did have some bladder urethra damage from the radiation. Lots of pain and discomfort. Which has been made worse by the fact that I can't pee and have a foley.
Don't delay get that tumor out today. :)
I'd be happy to talk directly with you if you need support.
