We are talking about Adriamycin, aka Doxorubicin/Hydroxydaunorubicin, correct? If so, there is a lifetime maximum that you can receive. From your description, it does not sound like you would be at that level. However, there are most likely better alternatives now than back then. Look into a clinical trial or what is offered by a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center - they conduct research, employ the best and brightest and are leading edge. FYI, I had pretty much the maximum tolerated dose of Doxorubicin ("red devil or "red bull") over two months, followed up by two more months of Doxil, which is the same drug encased in a lipid layer for slower release. The drug is known for cardiac toxicity as a long-term side effect. About 5 years down the road, I consulted with a cardiologist as a precaution. After all sorts of testing, it appeared that I had somehow avoided the cardiac damage associated with the drug.

For this reason, I always suggest considering a suitable clinical trial, as it is virtually guaranteed that any new drug will be less toxic. I was on one such new-generation drug for 5 years in clinical trial > long-term study > private use with no detectable long-term effects.

I get 1/3 of a dose of Adriamycin 3 wks in a row, then a week off. On my 10th round. Right before Adria, I get a med to protect my heart. Have done vey well with this. Low white cells prevented beginning of this cycle. Dr may switch to Doxil soon. Depending on your receptors, you may have more options. I am Stage IV TNBC.
