saving pull tabs from cans for cancer treatments

I was wondering if anyone else has or knows about saving the pull tabs from soda cans to help with cancer treatments for kids. Is this a real thing or a scam. If it is for real where do I send the tabs and who too.

I would ignore this entirely! It sounds like some soft drink company is trying to sell it's product by offering to donate a tiny percentage of it's sales to some charity. It might even be as low as 1/10 of a penny! Or it might be 0 if they have a low maximum amount and many do! I really dislike it when huge corporations try to cash in on a disease by offering to donate something- but only if you buy their product! This especially happens with breast cancer, all these greedy companies try to sell their products by jumping on the breast cancer fundraiser bandwagon but when you read the fine print most of them don't donate much of anything- but they will stamp that pink ribbon on their product in order to help sell it! And this exact issue has been talked about on the news and on WhatNext before. Honestly you sound like a really nice person and if you want to help you are better off taking the $1.00 you would spend to buy a few sodas and just donating that dollar directly to a cancer organization that you like! Sodas aren't healthy anyway and many contain ingredients that cause cancer. :-(
I love them too but I only allow myself to indulge occasionally as a special treat. Good luck and god bless!

We turn them into our hospital that has done most of my treatment, Vanderbilt in Nashville, they take the pull tabs because they are more pure in aluminum and bring a higher amount. The tabs support the childrens hospital. No scam here. Boy Scout Troops will have contests to see who can bring in the most tabs as well as other groups. It takes a lot of can tabs to make a baggie full.

Our Ronald McDonald house accepts them. Boxes are placed in several banks etc. in the community. I also see them placed by recycling containers in hopes that people will take the extra couple seconds to help.

When I got out of the Hospital after a auto accident my Dr. wanted me to get some exercise so I started riding my bicycle around our small town. I heard about collecting can tabs for Cancer Research, so I would stop and pick up the cans that people would throw out along the road. I saved the tabs for Oschner Hospital, La. and I recycled the cans and used the money to buy myself a new bike.
A couple years later I had collected quite a few and I saw one of the Oschner workers at the Vegetable Stand in town. I ask her if she could take them to the Hospital for me and she said yes. I told her I would bring them over to the clinic in a few minutes and she said no I can take them I told her I would bring them over. When I got there I walked in with four grocery bags of tabs. She was really surprised. I told her to get either a big bag or box and I went out to the car and got the other five or six bags. I thought she was going faint when she saw how many tabs I had. She said did you drink all of these? I told her only the diet coke’s. The rest were litter along the roads, mostly beer cans that people threw out of their cars.
