    Scanxiety is real!

Wanted to update about my scans I had 2 weeks ago. I saw the onc last Thurs. He was very pleased with the results. There are no new spots in the liver and there is scarring in the sternum, which means the chemo is working!!

      Why scanxiety?

Rather, 'Scanticipation' of a clean scan.

64 million Americans are estimated to suffer from anxiety. The true epidemic.

Do you have screaming matches about everything when you have a scan? I have gotten up and got ready to leave, then they changed their mind. I got up another time, and got my phone to call my radiology oncologist, and they decided to do the scan. By the way-- do you have an idiot clown that makes the doctors laugh when they read the reports? Have you had unnecessary biopsies because of the clown? Have contacted the head of the scan company and went in and told him you know what about the staff? The reaction-that I was unhinged, so the scan company was in cahoots about taking away my car keys and driver's license.

As soon as a new scan company was approved, my RO contacted me to go to the new place. Next Fri. I go their for my 2nd scan. It was nice-they were nice-but I still worry. I will add that my RO said that I wasn't the only patient of his that had these problems along with their individual problems.

I had a really rare throat-head cancer just my head/throat. Nothing else is scanned. I throw up if I fast, and the fight was about me fasting. First the reading radiologist said that my tonsil stubs were cancerous-NOT- but my ENT said that he knew the reader-so the ENT biopsied both tonsils, throat tissues both sides- tongue, under tongue, tongue, both inner cheeks -front and back, uvula, soft palate, gums-both sides-upper and lower-front and back. I hurt so bad-I couldn't hardly swallow. Next reading-not only did the jerk say that my tonsils had cancer, but the right side of my throat also became cancerous.

After I complained in person to his manager, he said that the scans were unreadable because the OR ordered the wrong view. My RO had a hissy fit-he called the scan company and screamed and cursed right then and there. The scan company put out that I was demented and and couldn't follow simple instructions, so with my head being zapped, I had the constant problem of fat old ladies coming out and taking my keys and driver's license from me.

I drive a 5-on-the-floor pickup and Mustang Mach. I told them that after I get done. We'll go out to the lot, I'll drive them to an empty area. I will turn the engine off- They have real clutches, and I won't tell them what is where. If they can start the engine without killing it, start moving without killing it-not grinding coffee, popping the clutch, missing gears, jerking the vehicle around, and can figure out how to stop without killing the engine, I MIGHT THINK ABOUT TALKING TO THEM.

Did I say they scurry off like rats?

Then I don't like the cushion under my knees-I'm in my 70s, I knew by the time I was 10, that I didn't like that-but the argueing starts with that or intensifies the dispute. Then there are the techs that treat patients like livestock.
