    Should a prostatectomy fix some urinary problems?

      I'm sorry, but you need to specify what you mean.

      An enlarged prostate, whether benign or malignant, will interfere with complete emptying of the bladder. That's because it pinches the tube, called the prostatic urethra. In really severe cases that can be painful.

      To finish Fusilire's comment - there are often side effects of surgery. They run the gamut from ED to incontinence and lots in between. I doubt the doctors would recommend surgery if not necessary.
