    silly question

So far I have lost 1/4 of my hair. They are coming out in bigger clumps and at a much faster pace.......but my question is this.......why are my gray hairs still intact? Will they be the last to go?

      Grandy (Best Answer!)

My grays stayed. I wish I hadn't shaved them. But then I lost mine in winter and my head was cold bald, and hot with hats or wig.

ah - dunno why that is.... but yeah, they will probably be the last to go. that was certainly my case! unlike grandy, i was super glad i just shaved it. as soon as it started going, i used a clippers and then i was bald. then, i wore hats pretty much all the time. there are a bunch of great light weight cotton hats for this time of year... but hot head is definitely a challenge.

if you end up with acne on your scalp... well, know that it happens to a lot of us.

Yep, I got the head zits. And as I fibromyalgia, my head is extra itchy. And most all hats were irritating.

No question is silly. When I started losing my hair it was scraggly and made me look older than I already looked so I had my boyfriend cut it down and then my son finished shaving it. I cried the entire time. I wore bandanas when i went anywhere. I wish I would have found the coverings I have now before but I had chemo and radiation at the same time. Radiation had me so sick and wore down I went no where but there and back home. My hair had started to grow back then I had radtiation to the brain and out it came again- cried again getting it shaved lol. It is finally growing back (been almost a year since I had hair :)

First of all grey hairs are evil..:):) They are nasty little pests and stronger sometimes than regular hair. Shave them off and be done with it.

I loved my wig..I had the liners and that made a huge impact on comfort. I wish I could wear it now but my hair id way to BIG.

My hair now is tight curls. I mean tight. I have a full Fro. Still too short to blow dry.

Had one hair cut to cut off the 1 to 1 1/2 inch of dry brittle first grow and now the hair is more normal but lots and lots of grey. And its corse and wild.

losing my hair was really traumatic...I think it is okay to ask anything here! Many of us have been through XXX and back fighting cancer. When hair starts to go, it is a painfully slow process....and shaving my head is what I did. Perhaps that is the way to go...and then get some pretty scarves. I was not a wig person myself. Take Care!!

I got sick of looking at my pillow each morning waiting for clumps to show up, so I had my boyfriend shave my head. I'm still in chemo now and some spots still have hair growing, but others are completely smooth at the skin. I continue to shave it so I'm not patchy. I wear a hat when I'm cold and keep one in the car so I can open my sunroof without worrying about a sunburn on my head. I don't love the wigs I bought because I feel like I'm hiding and pretending, plus they can get hot. Although, putting a "select-a-size" small papertowel against my head, under the wig has helped the few times I have worn one of the wigs.
