• Sores?

Asked by Gizz on Sunday, June 9, 2019

OK, I have thin skin , take a asprin a day, so my blood is thin also I have diabetes. I baby sit my sons' German Shepherd. We are playing with her ball and toys and sometimes she jumps up and with her paws and gets my arms or hands. She rakes across my arms and it tears the skin or bust blood vessels in my arm. She doesn't mean to but I am afraid because I don't heal fast that I will have problems with this when I do radiation and chemo. Question: Will these sores on my arms be able to heal or get worse due to the radiation and chemo?

Hello, I am an oncology nurse. Just keep them clean and covered and you will do fine. Use bacitracin on the wounds as well. Best of luck to you.
