Pretty much assymptomatic. I qualify for trial . I'm 57 and in good shape. some think it s wise to hit it now with chemo. I'm reluctant. Been on hormones 2 mo.
Lupron/casodex not affecting me at all yet, except dropping psa.

Wow, tough question, I was in the middle of considering trials until I found out I could get normal treatment. I for one can't give you the advise you need. Good luck in your venture.

If it were me, I would think seriously about doing it now for a few reasons. One - you're asymptomatic now... but what about in the near future? Two - you're strong now... but if you wait, you might be weaker and then have a tougher time with the chemo. Three - if you have a shot at kicking the cancer's but, then I say, take it!
On the other hand, chemo is not easy and has side effects...
This trial - is it a clinical trial?
I feel like you should have a comprehensive understanding of the pros and cons of choosing to or not to do this treatment plan....
A final reason I would think about a clinical trial is the possibility of making it better for other people in the future... and the possibility that you'd be getting the magic bullet that does kick this cancer's butt.
Good luck.

Ya- its a clinical trial. Normal protocal is to keep going with the hormone thing as long as possible- then hit with taxotere as needed someday. Most things I read say prognosis only good for 1-2 years. I know there are guys out there for 7-8-9 years. Trial is to hit it early while I'm still strong, see if it helps duration. Not much for stats on this- thus the trial. my doc seems to believe it will help. All the alternative therapy books say no way- and start with suppliments and forget about any hormone therapy and chemo. either way- I'm adding a lot of suppliments to my diet, and have eliminating many other foods.

Look into Zytiga and Provenge before you go the chemo route. I am doing everything but chemo. Have no personal info on Taxotere. Check out what I have been through over the last nine+ years. Good luck with whatever you choose. A good site for more info is:
