    Dear Ms. Englehart,

Thank you for contacting me about Ovarian Cancer awareness. I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to me about this important issue and for sharing your personal story about your successful and ongoing fight against cancer. Your willingness to openly talk about your experience has undoubtedly made a difference in raising awareness.

Furthermore, you are absolutely correct that too many diseases do not get the attention that they deserve.  That is why I was proud to support and cosponsor Senator Scarnati’s Senate Resolution 170 of the 2017-18 Legislative Session.  This resolution designated the month of September 2017 as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.  This resolution was successfully introduced and adopted on July 26, 2017.  As a result, the State Capitol’s balcony will be lit with the color teal from September 25th until the end of the month on the 30th to help spread awareness of Ovarian Cancer.

I encourage you to keep fighting to draw attention to

I have seen pictures of buildings being lit up this month in Pittsburg, Chicago, and elsewhere. I have also seen numerous pictures of groups of ladies and their supporters and caregivers out running and walking for awareness and to raise funds for this " whispering " disease. I recently viewed a video on Facebook presented by a young man who recently lost his mother to ovarian cancer. His mother's dying wish was that he spread the word about this disease, he followed through with her wishes with viewers in the thousands. It is gratifying that more and more, people are being informed about this particular cancer, leading to earlier diagnosis and saving lives.

That's very nice! I'm still trying to get landers to inscribe ribbons on their bags in colors other than pink, since we can pick monograms when we buy there.
