    support groups

I was wondering if anyone knew of any support groups that actually meet up anywhere? I live in Plymouth Meeting PA. witch is 30 minutes west of Philadelphia. I 'd like to know if anyone has heard of or actually attends such a group? I don't know, I could be wrong but I thought it kind of sounds like it would be I good thing to have. You guys are great and I'm sure I'll get a response if anyone knows of such a thing. I haven;t even google searched it yet . I thought I'd ask here first.

The American Cancer Society can put you in touch with support groups in your area.

Also check with your hospital or chemo center. Mine has many groups that can help. One is called Creative Expressions and it is a therapy group where we make a small craft. We talk for the first hour and then make something the second hour. It helped me.

Gilda's House is a nationwide support organization that was founded by Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner's Husband after she died. They have merged with Cancer Support Community and are in most larger areas. Your treatment facility may have a small group that meets there. Lots of those do. We hope you find what you need. In the meantime, please post a question or issue that you are having here any time you need help.

I was going to mention the same thing as Greg did. If there's a Cancer Support Communities (CSC) group in your area, they are phenomenal ... or, the ones I have visited in my area are. I attended a meeting in Philadelphia with CSC - they have a large facility in that area. They brought in cancer survivors from all over the country for a two-day meeting.

I have a friend (@coco1101) here who runs a support group. I'm not sure if it is still affiliated with the hospital where she was when it was started or not. Anyway, cancer survivors meet monthly for fellowship and information. If she sees this, maybe she'll chime in with more info. We're in Texas so that won't help you, but it may be that your clinic has something similar ... or maybe you could help start something like it.

      Good luck!

Have you checked to see if Einstein or Penn have support groups? Or https://cancersupportphiladelphia?

I grew up in Plymouth Meeting. Hope you enjoy living there!

Since you go to a large Philadelphia facility and doctor, ask at the doctor's office also. There's an online GIST group, but I'll have to look it up & give you the link later.
