    Surgery after radiation

Has anyone had surgery on breast after radiation? I'm having some fat grafted in my breast to shape my implant for symmetry. There will be a small incision on top side of breast. I've already had the implant replaced with an incision under the breast with no problem. Has anyone had any problems with incisions after radiation?

I've had exchange and two fixes on my implants since radiation....the first time, the PS made an incision in the crease below the breast....then for the other surgeries he used the same incision....no problems...

I had a mastectomy with an expander. After expansion, I was deflated and then had radiation, re-expansion (ouch) and then a latissimus-dorsi flap reconstruction with an implant. The main issue I continue to have is that the radiated tissue is very tight all the time. Everything healed up very well and the tightness was not there at first. As I continued to heal the tightness increased. It has been 4 years since the reconstruction and it's still not very comfortable and I still can't wear a bra. I am told that it is not uncommon for the radiated tissue to feel worse before it feels better and that it takes a very long time to get some of the elasticity back. I hope you fare better than I did but I'm definitely happy to still be around.
